After Ridgway, at the traffic light, you will turn right on to Highway 550 towards the town of Ouray. You will continue on Highway 550, past the famous Orvis Hot Springs and into the “Switzerland of America, the town of Ouray. Passing through Ouray, you will immediately start over Red Mountain Pass, part of the Million Dollar Highway, reaching an elevation of over 11,000 feet! There are some great reminders of the rich history of mining efforts in the San Juan Region along this stretch of road so, feel free to stop and take a photo or two! Once in Silverton take the time to wander the shops of the historic district and grab some lunch or head back to enjoy lunch in Ouray or Ridgway.
